Ashford Sanders is a powerhouse gospel and soul vocalist whose unmistakable voice, larger-than-life personality, and remarkable story of perseverance have connected with audiences across the country.

A native of Canton, Mississippi, Ashford’s relationship with music began at an early age. He knew as a child that he wanted to become a gospel singer, growing up surrounded by the rich musical traditions of Mississippi and drawing inspiration from legendary gospel groups such as The Williams Brothers and The Canton Spirituals.

Ashford first gained national recognition in 2012 as a standout contestant on Season 5 of BET’s Sunday Best. His commanding voice, energy, and personality quickly made him a fan favorite, ultimately carrying him into the top five of the competition. From there, he continued performing, recording music, and pursuing the calling that had been a part of his life since childhood.

More than a decade later, Ashford stepped onto an even bigger national stage with NBC’s America’s Got Talent. His soulful interpretation of Billie Eilish’s “What Was I Made For?” showcased a different side of his artistry and earned a standing ovation along with four yes votes from the judges, advancing him to the live rounds of the competition.

But Ashford Sanders’ story is about far more than what has happened on stage. His journey has been marked by extraordinary perseverance through serious health challenges, including kidney failure and a failed kidney transplant, as well as personal setbacks that could have easily caused him to walk away from his dreams. Instead, those experiences have strengthened his determination to keep moving forward.

Beyond music, Ashford is also an entrepreneur and the creative force behind Ashford’s Kitchen, combining his love of soul food, music, and bringing people together.

And while Ashford has already experienced moments that many artists spend a lifetime pursuing, his story is far from finished.
